BSince March 11, 2021, new rules apply to the installation of charging points in building parking lots. These obligations are in force for new construction projects and major renovations for which an environmental permit is applied for from this date.
As of Jan. 1, 2025, these rules will be extended to existing buildings with parking lots. Companies in Flanders with a parking lot of 20 or more spaces will be required to install at least 2 charging points. These measures follow from the European directive for improving the energy performance of buildings and support the transition to emission-free transport.
In Brussels and Wallonia, the legislation is also changing significantly. If you have several parking lots near one building, the regulations apply per parking lot.
